Boadilla del camino

I had the best day today!!!

I walked with a Spanish Professor today for almost the whole day.  We talked and talked and talked.  We talked about life and religion and environmental issues, family planning and the current state of the church.  We talked about Lutheran studies and he was so knowledgeable about Luther and so incredibly open to discussion.    I was surprised to discover mid day that he was a priest.  It was nice to talk about God with someone on Camino.  Most of the people I have encountered are either agnostic, on vacation only or very traditionally catholic.

I think I surprised him in that I did know my Luther and  Bonhoeffer.  He was surprised a little American girl knew as much as she did about religion and science.  It was such a fun conversation.  He teaches theology at a college in the Canary Islands and is about the age of Mom and Dad.  He was on his first day of walking the Camino so continued on his way after my feet needed to rest for the day.  Since he grew up in this region, he probably knew some people in the kilometers ahead.

We had a nice group dinner tonight.  This is a nice place to stay... but it is a dead little town.   There is a lot of community at the albergue.

My dinner was with several Danish people tonight.  We had a conversation about mother's staying home with their babies.   In Denmark paid leave is 18 months.

There are many pictures of the aqueduct in this town.  It appears to be lit at night which I am sure is both for beauty and safety.

Counting down on the wheat field days... six more to go!   Keep going Leischen.
