It is just 1:30 p.m. and I have walked my entire 25 kms today. That is just about perfect for me and I have made up the time I lost yesterday. I left at 6:00 a.m. and arrived in Astorga by mid morning. This is where I had planned to stay last night, but 30 kms is just too much. One of the things I had planned to see was this fabulous Cathedral by Gaudi. It was fabulous, but alas it is too early for me to do more than take a few pictures of the outside before It was time to continue on the trail to make tonight's stop.I walked by myself today and it was nice. I talked to people for a couple of kms here and there but mainly kept my own pace. This is so much easier on your feet. You get in trouble when you try to match someone else's pace. Panilla had a great pace but she had to slow down to meet her husband who just came to join her on the walk. I am spending some time this afternoon with a Hungarian couple.
I have a private room tonight. It was only 15 euro so how do I say no to that. It would be silly not to take it. The albergues in this town have 30-40 beds per room. I just don't sleep well with all the noises in the room.Well, I think I am sleeping in the owners house. I took a siesta and walked out of my room to see the owner taking her own siesta on a sofa. She is very nice. ( I made a comment about money that was not on the books and that she looked like a clean cut American girl)
Oh, I know they pocketed it. I saw the husband and wife give each other a high five when I said "yes, I would love the room" It is really clean and nice and I don't mind having it one bit.
We had a lovely meal tonight. Nancy who is also in this town, a Danish couple and myself. The Danes speak excellent English.
(See picture at the top).

I went to Vespers this evening. It was so beautiful and all in Latin. They had English translations in the bulletin so I could follow. It was very well attended. It was a very humble church with no gold like the many Cathedrals I have been in Spain. They sang very well.
As you can see there are no more wheat fields. This is the road I will be walking on come 6 am tomorrow morning. Good night for now.
Love to you all.
