We passed our planned stop of SanBol today. No healing waters for tired feet, no small little arbergue with chapel service for the weary, no gathering with other pilgrims for a communal meal.... instead, we decided to get in as many miles as we could while the weather was with us.
(Lark) I looked up this lovely stop at SanBol and of course you wonder how she could walk by a little paradise like this? I will say that these pictures were taken when the wheat was just coming up ( April-May) and Leischen is walking pretty close to harvest time. So these lovely pictures to your left are NOT of Leischen or her walking group and in general are probably now in colors of brown rather than this beautiful green.
If it looked like that I am sure she could not pass on. I also found a picture of all this "egg" dish they keep talking about in blogs and articles. The boats/bowls are made of scrambled eggs and ? and inside they serve another egg, generally sunny side up it appears. So when she said eggs and more eggs, she has probably eaten this.
Meseta
The weather was quite good today and it is going to be very hot later this week. We have just hit what is called the Meseta. It is a long stretch of no shade and very hot. Today the weather was windy and cool so we are trying to make some distance when in its more tolerable.
The area we are walking (Meseta) has lots of wheat fields and is very flat. They say that it is so monotonous that you can find yourself here.If Leischen is correct in her 12 days of wheat fields....she only has 7 to go!!
Castorjeriz

We made it to Castrojeriz. A medium sized town. It has ruins of a castle high, high up on the hill. We are staying in a very old casa with exposed beams and forever old. Many different types of flooring. I went to mass tonight. It was impossible to understand.... but it was good.
The playlists are pretty handy on days like these.
So I say.... Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing.
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty, what would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me. (Abba)
