Mansilla de las Mulas

A special thank you to those who planted trees on the "new road" to Santiago.   I can't imagine having to walk on a 92 degree day without the wonderful shade of these trees.   Sunflower fields  provided some variation after all the wheat fields that have lined Leischen's walk for over a week.  (She sent a picture, but it wasn''t clear enough to share)

Pilgrim's do not carry many possessions as they walk. Leischen says that it is because the whole walk is  to signify that "God will Provide"   Today was a great example, although Leischen probably did not think so at the time.    She had almost completed her walk for the day to Mansilla de las Mulas when she found that she had left her camera some six miles back at an earlier stop.   She hurried back along the trail ( walking faster this time with a little more frustration and personal anger at leaving it for someone else to pick up.)   When she returned to the spot and after a little looking, she found her camera had fallen off the bench and was hidden by grass so that the others passing by could not easily see it.   She shed a few tears of joy at finding her new camera laying unharmed and out of general sight.   She now had blisters on her feet from walking too fast and it was time to return.   Out of the blue comes a taxi going to Mansilla and wanting to know if she needed a ride.

Leischen, not wanting God to say,  " Well I provided you a car for your sore feet"   jumped in and made it back to her lodgings with camera in hand.   She texted me this note when she arrived , and the first thing I replied was  " Well, you said God provides for his pilgrims... he just did"

Tomorrow she will be in the large city of Leon, Spain.   There are art galleries, Cathedrals and many things to see and experience.

I will be excited to hear about the it.

Mansilla is most known for this red chapel building.    It is everywhere on the internet.

There is another old cathedral and ruins on a hill.   I think every town has a ruin on the hill?

Mike             I loved that story!!

Marvel T.           I've been enjoying these emails about Leischen's trip.  Such a memory making experience.

Grandma C         Six miles back, oh my goodness!!! I am afraid I would have given up the camera.  And blisters.  Oh my how painful.  Thank You Lord for giving her a way back without walking.    The shaded path was interesting.   The Lord was surely looking out for her when her camera was hidden in the grass.
